Dr. Hayes is a long-time employee of Stony Brook Medicine. He was employed for over 30 years in the Pharmacy Department at Stony Brook University Hospital.
For the past 15 years Dr. Hayes has been Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Stony Brook Hospital. While in this position he also served as the PGY1 Residency Program Director, the ACPE Continuing Pharmacy Education administrator and the departments educator.
Dr. Hayes is very active in local, state and national Pharmacy organizations and has served these organizations in various leadership roles including President.
In 2014 Dr. Hayes was named Interim Dean and played a key role in the founding of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Stony Brook. In this role, Dr. Hayes was responsible for the recruiting the initial leadership team as well filing the initial applications to the State University of New York and the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education.
Dr. Hayes has a keen interest patient safety and often gives talks to the community on the safe use of medications and Nutritional Support. Dr. Hayes has published in peer reviewed journals, as well as text books.
